Clean Water Now! COASTAL CLEAN UP DAY

The Clean Water Now! Coalition leads the way in this statewide event each year for Laguna Beach. As designated by the California Coastal Commission (CCC), Roger Butow will serve as "BEACH CAPTAIN."

The 2007 Coastal Cleanup Day was a success! Thanks to all who participated! We removed 3,280 pounds of trash, plus 696 pounds of recyclable refuse. That's 3,976 pounds of stuff that shouldn't be on our beaches or in our tidepools! Great job folks! Thanks!

Our most recent Coastal Clean Up Day was:

This one-day-a-year--now international event--includes a score card of detritus, separated by weight (recycle and non-recycle items) found while collecting litter on the beach. Unusual items are also noted: refrigerators, car tires, shopping carts, you name it, have been found in the past. Other affiliates remove trash from the inland canyons and streambeds.
